What is "Fck+4" in Concrete Test?

In the field of concrete and construction, "Fck+4" is a term used to refer to the target compressive strength of concrete. The "Fck" part of the term refers to the characteristic compressive strength of concrete, while the "+4" refers to an additional strength requirement.   When a concrete mix design is specified as "Fck+4," it means that the target compressive strength of the concrete is 4 MPa higher than the characteristic compressive strength (Fck) of the mix design. For example, if a mix design has an Fck of 30 MPa and is specified as Fck+4, then the target compressive strength of the concrete would be 34 MPa.   Specifying a higher target compressive strength than the characteristic compressive strength can be done for several reasons, such as to ensure greater durability or to account for potential variations in the concrete strength due to factors such as curing conditions, workmanship, or testing variability.

Acceptance Result for C30 Grade Concrete as per European Code?

The acceptance criteria for C30 grade concrete as per European standards are as follows:   Compressive strength: The characteristic compressive strength of C30 grade concrete at 28 days is 30 N/mm². The minimum compressive strength requirement is 20 N/mm² at 7 days and 25 N/mm² at 28 days. The individual test results should not be less than the minimum strength requirement by more than 4 N/mm².   Workability: The concrete mix should have a workability of 50-90 mm slump as per EN 12350-2.   Density: The density of C30 grade concrete is typically between 2200 kg/m³ to 2500 kg/m³.   Water absorption: The maximum water absorption capacity of C30 grade concrete is 6% as per EN 12504-1.   Durability: The concrete mix should be designed to ensure that the concrete has a minimum durability of 50 years, which includes resistance to environmental and chemical exposure.   Other requirements: The concrete mix should also meet other specific requirements as per the project s
